THE BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT
Haiti is currently experiencing a severe crisis characterized by a violent gang uprising, targeted attacks against key infrastructure, and severe political instability. The situation escalated significantly following Prime Minister Henry's announcement of delayed elections to 2025, leading to widespread violence orchestrated by prominent gang leaders, notably Jimmy 'Barbecue' Chérizier. While Henry remains the nominal head of Haiti, the country appears to be under the control of gangs in effect. Commercial air traffic has been halted in and out of the country, complicating evacuation efforts– and concerns over food and potable water supplies are said to be acute.
